Meet Ms. Sharon White

Sharon White is the author of A Journey 2 Tough to Quit and a passionate and dedicated advocate for people silenced by the prison industrial complex. Her work focuses on shifting the conversation from prison reform to community rebuilding guided by the vision of “People, not Prisons.”

In her debut memoir, Sharon courageously shares a raw and unfiltered account of her experiences within the prison system, offering readers a deeply personal story of struggle, hope, and resilience. A former New Yorker and current Delaware resident, Sharon is the proud mother of two sons, Shawn and Thomas, and a grandmother to six grandchildren. She is also a co-founding member of the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, where she advocates for restorative justice and works to reimagine communities through the voices of those with lived experience.
